Wrapping up 2015

Is it just me? 2015 literally felt like the fastest moving year ever.

I started off  2015 as the year of God's will for my life.  I have shared several  personal experiences that I have encountered this year on the blog sprinkled between series themed posts and songs of praise.

We stared off with the Kingdom Ambassador series and we also had the I've Got Power series of posts.

We sang a lot of praises to, and about our King in 2015 and there is no doubt I/we will continue in 2016.

There is no coincidence the books I'm reading recently is centered around prayer. I have one more book review to do and it is setting the trajectory for my 2016 experience.  I can't wait to share (hope to be done reading this book in the coming week).

What better way to wrap up my final 2015 post?  With a song.......

Jesus You Been Good to Me

God Bless you Friends! Thank yo so much for your readership support. Looking forward to greater things in 2016.

Well, I just got out of jail. Facebook jail. They has shut me down a few days ago. Apparently what I am posting is not good for the FB community. But that's ok. While I was gone I got some more hot fire. Nothing will change or stop the message. In the event that I do get shut down for good, you can follow me on YouTube @ Mrmarcusjrogers or Instagram @ Markjchildoftheking
If I do get this page shut down for good I will post instructions for the website or new fb page from both of those sources as well as Periscope. God bless.

Being anointed is like being a lady, if you have to tell people that you are, you aren't. I don't get caught up in titles. People call me Apostle, Prophet, Pastor....but Jesus calls me servant. I personally don't like titles because people get so caught up in them, and many don't deserve them. Too much ego not enough Jesus. The Bible says a tree is known by the fruit it bares. I let the Jesus in me speak for itself. So when you see me just call me brother Mark. If God gives me gifts, they are given to me so I can serve His people. People call themselves prophets and evangelist, but never fed the homeless, or cleaned the church or attended a foot washing service. If being a servant is beneath you, leadership is beyond you. If you're so full of yourself, how can you have room for true power from God?

Book Review: Before Amen_The Power of A Simple Prayer

When I returned the first book I reviewed,  I picked up two other books.  Of the two, I read the titled book first.

Image result for before amen

This was a very pleasant, fulfilling, reassuring, inspiring read.  I must tell you that Max Lucado is a BRILLIANT Author.  Reading his words is like listening to a favorite uncle who is relaxed, has a tempered sense of humor and makes you feel at ease/comfortable in his presence.  This man is gifted for writing and I thank God for his ministry.

The book is essentially about prayer and I just loved how the author brought home the points by using practical testimonies on prayers and relatable examples on how simple prayers can be while not diminishing it's power.  The confirmations and convictions were so on point. There were some points made that left me full and I couldn't read any more for a couple days, I just had to digest these truths and it was a pleasure. I encourage you to read this book and be blessed.

One more book review to go, Stay Tuned!

Book Review: Switch On Your Brain_The Key to Peak Happiness,Thinking and Health

Hi Blog Friends!

It's been quite a while since you've read written words from me.  I've been in a zone and only felt like posting/playing spiritually uplifting, motivating and encouraging music.  Hope you have been enjoying/listening.  I have!

I was watching a religious program on TV a couple weeks ago and was introduced to the titled book. The info shared was interesting and captivated my attention,  so I decided to see if my local library had a copy and they did!

BOOK REVIEW:

The book ties scientific research on the physiology of the Brain, DNA and molecular structures back to scripture and how our thinking, and outlook on life and life experiences actually changes our DNA.  The concept is called Epigenetics (look it up).  Very interesting stuff!

The book is filled with a lot of scientific research, and scientific explanations of the brain.  The Christian Author, Dr. Caroline Leaf also used various scripture texts to support scientific findings on how our thinking and expectations affect our physical being/structure on a molecular, DNA level.

After about the first two chapters I found a lot of the scientific stuff a bit repetitive and since I am not a science buff, a little boring for me.  I got the point after a while and wanted to get to the 21 keys to changing our thinking.  So I skipped to scan through the practical application steps and realized I was already implementing these principles in my life and I thank God for that.

The reason I'm sharing this book with you is because the facts shared are very interesting and someone may be looking for an answer or solutions on how to change their negative thinking, habits and perspectives to live a more fulfilling, bright and invigorated life.

Stay tuned for more book reviews!

Much Love,

Faith Works

For the past couple weeks I've done something that I never thought I would do.  What I did, stretched me to take a risk. I was challenged to take action against my traditional system of beliefs.  This course of action did not compromise my moral stance what so ever, but challenged my personal reasoning and expectations.  What I've learned is that there are times we are called to go, do, move in a way that we are not accustomed to and sometimes uncomfortable for us.  But isn't that what faith is all about?

I'm sure it was uncomfortable for Abraham and it challenged his traditional reasoning and expectations when he was asked to sacrifice his son Isaac.  It was a test He was willing to pass despite his feelings, and God in turn bless Him and provided an alternative.

I'm encouraged once more to step outside my "comfort" zone and trust God.  After All

Hebrews 11(NLT) Recounts Great Examples of Faith

11 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.
By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.
It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.
It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. 10 Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.
11 It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. 12 And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead—a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.
13 All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. 14 Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. 15 If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. 16 But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
17 It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, 18 even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.”[c] 19 Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.
20 It was by faith that Isaac promised blessings for the future to his sons, Jacob and Esau.
21 It was by faith that Jacob, when he was old and dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and bowed in worship as he leaned on his staff.
22 It was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt. He even commanded them to take his bones with them when they left.
23 It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months when he was born. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid to disobey the king’s command.
24 It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward. 27 It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible. 28 It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover and to sprinkle blood on the doorposts so that the angel of death would not kill their firstborn sons.
29 It was by faith that the people of Israel went right through the Red Sea as though they were on dry ground. But when the Egyptians tried to follow, they were all drowned.
30 It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days, and the walls came crashing down.
31 It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God. For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
32 How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets. 33 By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. 35 Women received their loved ones back again from death.
But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection. 36 Some were jeered at, and their backs were cut open with whips. Others were chained in prisons. 37 Some died by stoning, some were sawed in half,[d] and others were killed with the sword. Some went about wearing skins of sheep and goats, destitute and oppressed and mistreated. 38 They were too good for this world, wandering over deserts and mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.
39 All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. 40 For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.

Be About It: The Kingdom Promise

Thank you for your heartfelt thoughts, hugs, affirmations and encouragement in my last post.  I appreciate each and every one of you!!

Let's jump right in to the first 'Be Attitude' post.

Three of the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:1-12 contain a very rich promise!

We are promised three times with the reward of inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven:

Matthew 5:3:  Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Matthew 5:10   Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Matthew 5:11-12  Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.   Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

The promises of a Kingdom reward are offered with a pronouncement of  blessings bases on an attitude or specific trails we face in life.

"Of the poor in spirit Jesus says, "Their's is the kingdom of heaven." This kingdom is not, as Christ's hearers had hoped, a temporal and earthly dominion. Christ was opening to them the spiritual kingdom of His love, His grace, His righteousness. ... His subjects are the poor in spirit, the meek, the persecuted for righteousness' sake. The kingdom of heaven is theirs. Though not yet fully accomplished, the work is begun in them which will make them "meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light" (Col. 1: 12).

Until next time friends, Be Blessed!!

To Be or Not to Be

Greetings Friends!  It has been a bit quiet here on the blog. But I'm still alive in case you are wondering.

I've been facing some personal tests lately.  They say a picture is worth a thousand words....
  Source

Nevertheless, I continue to declare that my God is good and faithful, loving, patient and kind.  I'm learning lessons and things about my Character, the spirit in which  I respond to specific test and trials.

I've come to realize that I truly need the Master, our Creator to continue to reveal things about myself to me and help me take the steps to repair and create more Christ like responses to specific tests that I face. As the saying goes, "The Lord helps those who helps themselves."

It's time to meditate on God's word again and take a closer look at God's instructions and expectations of us especially towards our attitudes when facing tests/trials.

I invite you to take this journey with me exploring in the upcoming series of posts  on the Blessings of the Be-Attitudes (Matthew 5:1-12).

These Days

Can evil become any more evil?  When you think the worst of the worst could happen, you recover from one tragedy, here comes another.

Have you ever wondered, Lord where are you?  How can you allow such a murderous actions to happen to your Children? in Your house of worship?!

What about the passing of laws that contradict God's institution of Marriage?

I would say these are fair questions that we should not be afraid, or shy away to ask our King.

One thing we need to remember is that there is a Battle taking place between Good and Evil. The excerpt below from The Great Controversy by Ellen White offers some helpful insight on what is taking place today and why...

The great controversy between good and evil will increase in intensity to the very close of time. In all ages the wrath of Satan has been manifested against the church of Christ; and God has bestowed His grace and Spirit upon His people to strengthen them to stand against the power of the evil one. When the apostles of Christ were to bear His gospel to the world and to record it for all future ages, they were especially endowed with the enlightenment of the Spirit. But as the church approaches her final deliverance, Satan is to work with greater power. He comes down "having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." Revelation 12:12. He will work "with all power and signs and lying wonders." 2 Thessalonians 2:9. For six thousand years that mastermind that once was highest among the angels of God has been wholly bent to the work of deception and ruin. And all the depths of satanic skill and subtlety acquired, all the cruelty developed, during these struggles of the ages, will be brought to bear against God's people in the final conflict. And in this time of peril the followers of Christ are to bear to the world the warning of the Lord's second advent; and a people are to be prepared to stand before Him at His coming, "without spot, and blameless." 2 Peter 3:14. At this time the special endowment of divine grace and power is not less needful to the church than in apostolic days.  Through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, the scenes of the long-continued conflict between good and evil have been opened to the writer of these pages. From time to time I have been permitted to behold the working, in different ages, of the great controversy between Christ, the Prince of life, the Author of our salvation, and Satan, the prince of evil, the author of sin, the first transgressor of God's holy law. Satan's enmity against Christ has been manifested against His followers.

Prayer: Lord have mercy on our souls. We desire to draw closer to you to get to know you and your word more than ever before; we recognize there are bold distractions and subtle distractions. We recognize evil, we recognize deficit in morality and blatant disregard for your instructions and commands in our World.  We ask that you be our guide as we aspire to live your way, we ask that you keep us grounded and focused.  Let your testimonies and praise never cease from our lips. Protect us from all Evil and save us in your Kingdom as you have promised when you come is my prayer in Jesus name. Amen.

Home Again

Hello Friends!!

How are you doing?  Well, I'm back, returned last week.  Everything went relatively well with the funeral services for my Father.  We traveled and came back home safely, Praise God.  A few hiccups with our return and as usual God fixed it.

Upon our return:

1st: We missed our connecting flight as the screens were showing the wrong gate;  Decided to ask an attendant after a while, who looked up the flight and told us the right gate number; after dashing across the airport we were told the flight just left and we needed to re-book.  We dashed across the airport to find the re-booking station, when it was our turn, the Lady/travel arranger that helped us asked "Are you Christians?" We replied yes.  She said you look like Christians and began sharing her personal testimonies with us. She was full of Praises for the Lord and we were blessed to Praise God with her.  God blessed us that there was another connecting flight to our City in just a few hours and we were able get home that night. God is a Way Maker, Thank you Jesus!

2nd: The taxi driver talked about the Lord, unprompted my us, all the way to our destination and we had a blessed conversation.  It is so refreshing to meet people who really love the God and are passionate about sharing the Lord and His goodness in their everyday lives.

After settling in, My mother asked me to get her medicine. That's when I realized that her handbag was missing. We searched and could not find it.  Her handbag had her medication and our camera in it. I started feeling overwhelmed and grief stricken thinking about the memories on our camera of pictures several years old now; not to mention my mother's medication.   I looked at the clock and It was after 2am in the morning.  Called the cab company to see if her hand bag left in the cab; they called a cab driver but it was not the same one that took us home.  I asked God to please have mercy and help us to recover the bag. I cried a bit and prayed with exhausted desperation and then decided to surrender and forced myself to sleep.   I called the cab company again the next day and they were able to track down our cab driver and he found the handbag.  Praise be to God for Ever and Ever!

3rd:  The next morning, my mother was moving one of our vehicles out of the drive way and for some reason the door would/could not open with the remote OR the physical key (have you ever heard of a KEY not opening a door?)  We tried and tried and nothing!  I remembered that my cell plan has an emergency assistance and decided to call them to see if they did lock out assistance.  They did and sent someone over right away. Even the man said he had never seen anything like that before, any way he did his thing and got the door open but the car would not start and the alarm started making NOISE non-stop.  I called the dealer to report the problem and there was a re-call for this lock issue and we took it in to get it fixed at no cost to us.  God did it Again....Praise Jehovah.

4th: Returned to work and was told there is a Big re-org taking place to be effective immediately. Staff was being moved and for some reason, I felt very calm.  With all the hype, hallway conversations and speculations, my spirit was not troubled.  After the official announcement at a staff meeting, I was told that I was staying put. God Is Faithful, His promises are true.

Power of Influence

Hello Friends, I hope you have gained some inspiration from the I've Got Power series of posts.  It is my prayer that we use these insights to enhance and generate a greater display of the Powers we have, not only for ourselves but to enhance and 'light up' the lives around us.

As we conclude this series,  I couldn't think of a more Powerful way to end than to talk about Influential Power.

Influence is the power to cause changes without directly forcing them to happen.

Can you think of anyone that has been influential, affecting change in your life?

Would you like to exercise influential power?

Here are some key areas we can work on enhance our influence:

Openness:  Share personal experiences; be authentic; show empathy; genuinely care about others and seek out ways to be a blessing (check out link for inspiring article written on Blogs by Christian Women).  Openness in so many ways lead to relationship building as well as strengthening the ones we currently have.

Being influential is like adding salt to a meal you are cooking. Salt enhances and gives flavor, it awakens, preserves, it serves it's purpose.

As Christians let us operate in our purpose as influencers for the Kingdom.

Matthew 5:13-16 (ICB)

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its salty taste, it cannot be made salty again. It is good for nothing. It must be thrown out for people to walk on.
14 “You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 And people don’t hide a light under a bowl. They put the light on a lampstand. Then the light shines for all the people in the house.

16 In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do. Live so that they will praise your Father in heaven.

Thank you for joining me on this journey!  This will be my last post for a while.

God Bless, Love you All.

Power In Obedience

In the last I've Got Power post, we revealed the fact that our words have Power.

Today we want to focus on the Power of Obedience.

What emotions do you feel when you hear the word Obedience?

I confess that for me, being obedient (compliance with an order, request; or, submission to another's authority) is easy when:

I perceive the expected outcome to be pleasant or in my likeness,
There are no apparent risks involved,
I agree,
It makes sense to me,
Obedience will not compromise my own plans/agenda.

1 Samuel 15:22-23(ICB)
But Samuel answered, “What pleases the Lord more:
burnt offerings and sacrifices or obedience?

It is better to obey God than to offer a sacrifice.
It is better to listen to God than to offer the fat of male sheep.

Refusing to obey is as bad as the sin of sorcery.Being stubborn is as bad as the sin of worshiping idols.

You have rejected the Lord’s command.
For this reason, he now rejects you as king.”

The first step in learning/training ourselves in Obedience starts with Obeying our parents irrespective of age.

Ephesians 6:1-3 (ICB)

Children, obey your parents the way the Lord wants.
This is the right thing to do.

The command says, “Honor your father and mother.”
This is the first command that has a promise with it.

The promise is:
“Then everything will be well with you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”

The truth of the matter is, if we are unable to obey or Parents (compliance with an order/request; or, submission to another's authority) we cannot obey Christ.

Note: *We are not required to obey orders/requests or submit to authority that are immoral and/or will conflict with our allegiance to our God.

The bible also advises us to obey our "Masters".  Since none of us reading this are slaves in the true meaning of the word. Let's interpret the term Slave used in the text below in terms of employee/employer relationship......

Ephesians 6:5-8 (ICB)

Slaves, obey your masters here on earth with fear and respect. And do that with a heart that is true, just as you obey Christ.

You must do more than obey your masters to please them only while they are watching you. You must obey them as you are obeying Christ. With all your heart you must do what God wants.

Do your work, and be happy to do it.
Work as if you were serving the Lord, not as if you were serving only men  Remember that the Lord will give a reward to everyone, slave or free, for doing good.

Note: *We are not required to obey orders/requests or submit to authority that are immoral and/or will conflict with our allegiance to our God.

Fnally, how can we truly submit and Obey the unseen God we believe in? What is the Power in our Obedience to God?

The answer is Faith. Faith requires believing and complying with God's order/request and Authority.

The accounts of great men in the bible that we read about like Moses, Noah, Abraham, Joseph amongst others activated their obedience through faith by doing exactly what God told them to do.  The Powerful rewards from God were evidenced as a result of their obedience.
