Once upon a time in Blogland aka Blogsville, in a community that once thrived and kept us engaged and entertained, there were trending topics, people sharing random personal happenings and journeys, stories, and suus aka gist.
If once upon a time were now, a trending topic would be the new CBS comedy sitcom series Bob ❤ Abisola, that premiered in September.
I saw it advertised a while ago and just got to watch it for the first time last night. Abisola is an authentic African/Nigerian. I used the word authentic purposefully because I remember days gone by when ethnic roles were played by non ethnic actors trying to mimic the accent but the accent was always an epic fail and a mockery (although sometimes funny) of mostly the Jamaican or African accent. This is not the case however with this show, which was quite refreshing.
Bob ❤ Abisola is a comedic examination of immigrant life in America. "After coming to America from Nigeria to find a better life for herself and her son Dele, Abishola lives in a small apartment with her super-protective relatives, Auntie Olu and Uncle Tunde. Undaunted by Abishola’s lack of initial interest or the vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob is determined to win Abishola’s heart."
Have you heard of this show or seen it? What are your thoughts?
My sister actually told me about this show but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. What are your thoughts after watching? A must watch?
ReplyDeleteIt was okay,I enjoyed hearing/seeing Abisola and her family interact with the cultural inserts in between.
